This is your opportunity to showcase your creativity and design skills by submitting an original design for the 2024 Rose Float Parade – the iconic New Year’s Day tradition celebrated for over 134 years. The contest is open to all those who are interested in participating in this historic tradition! Your design contribution will help make a difference in promoting our mission to preserve Armenian culture and heritage through the art of float design. We encourageparticipants to draw inspiration from Armenian culture, history, traditions, and landscapes. Show us your creativity and imagination in bringing the theme to life on a float!

Following the submission deadline – June 30, 2023 – the AARFA Board will select the top 5 best designs, and later pick the winning submission. The winning design, announced on July 15, 2023, will receive two complimentary tickets to the AARFA Gala, where they will be recognized for their contribution. If AARFA selects an entire design, the winning designer(s) will be awarded a seat on the float the day of the 2024 Rose Float Parade.

Design Guidelines:

  • Design must be original work and must be submitted by June 30, 2023 via email at design@aarfa.org. If designer(s) is submitting hard copies of original artwork, please make arrangements with AARFA team by contacting info@AARFA.org.

  • Design must incorporate the theme of the 2024 Rose Float Parade, which is “Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language.”

  • Design should be visually appealing and appropriate for the parade enjoyed by
    individuals of all ages. Design concept must be clear, big, and simple: can the audience understand the story and concept within 3 seconds?

  • Design should not exceed 55 feet long and 18 feet wide.

  • Design should be presented with the front on the right and the rear on the left. Three quarter view is preferred.

  • Do not draw a flat base: the main chassis is 7 feet wide by 30 feet long by almost 5 feet tall.

  • Designer(s) may give the design a title. However, AARFA reserves the right to change the title.

  • Consider adding entertainment elements to the design. Use of live people will be considered if it enhances the float design or entertainment value.

  • Design can be submitted in both digital format (please make sure to submit in high-resolution) and sketch format. Designer(s) can keep the original artwork as long as a high-resolution scan(s) is provided. Design should be provided in black ink.

  • Include a brief description of the concept and inspiration behind the design.

  • By signing and submitting this entry form, the designer(s) hereby grants the American Armenian Rose Float Association the exclusive right to utilize and make modifications to the design, including the ideas conveyed through the accompanying sketch and any provided explanations. The designer(s) affirms and guarantees that the entry is an original creation, not derived from copyrighted material, and not produced by any other individual or entity. Furthermore, the designer(s) confirm that they have not submitted the same or a similar design sketch to any other organization participating in the upcoming Rose Parade. It is understood that no compensation will be provided to the designer(s) for the submission of work that lacks originality or infringes upon copyright.

The designer(s) understands that the AARFA can use the complete or partial design without the designer(s) approval. By affixing their signature(s) to this entry form, the designer(s) agree to comply with these terms and conditions.
